Things have been hotting up at Kitchen by Liquid over the past month! The team have been busy hosting a special event to raise money for Acorn’s Children’s Hospice and Olivier delivered the first practical masterclass from our brand-new cookery school, find out more about the events below.

‘’Come Dine with Us” event for Acorns Children’s Hospice

On the 12th of October, we welcomed Birmingham presenter and compare, Phil Oldershaw, to host an incredibly special Come Dine with Me style event in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice, a charity which cares for hundreds of children and families across the West Midlands and Gloucestershire every year.

The talented Phil, who previously took home the £1000 on Come Dine with Me, was joined by Abigail Coulson from Acorn’s to welcome over 30 ambassadors and supporters of the charity into our space for a bespoke masterclass and dinner.

Our in-house development chef Olivier, and our COO, David Colcombe, joined forces to curate and present two delicious dishes that guests first learnt how to make and then sat down to eat with friends.

Guests were guided through the preparation of a Salmon Wellington with Watercress sauce, followed by a mouth-watering Passion Fruit and Raspberry Paris Brest with Passion Fruit Gel and Raspberry and Lemon Sorrel macaron for dessert – how good do they sound?

After learning the fundamentals and secret tricks to master the dishes at home, guests were served the two courses by members of the Liquid team – Sophie, Tom D, Georgia and Daisy, who were praised for being welcoming, attentive and “faultlessly on point” at this intimate and interactive dinner. Testament to Chef and Olivier’s dedication and teamwork, there wasn’t a clean plate in sight…and they may have a future career as a double act!

Not only were the guests well fed and entertained, the drinks sponsor for the evening, Swallow Wholesale Drinks Solutions, ensured there was an endless flow of paired wines and bubbles, with Stirchley-based brewery Attic providing the beer.

Most importantly, as this was an event to raise much-needed money for Acorns to continue their great work, there was also a raffle with a total of £720 raised!

We loved being able to support such a brilliant incentive and are overwhelmed with the feedback from the very relaxed, fun, and heart-warming evening. Thank you to our Kitchen by Liquid team, Acorn’s and everyone who attended – the evening would not have been the same without you.

Presentation of macarons practical class

If those macarons sound good, then our second event of the month is made for you…Olivier’s first presentation of macarons masterclass, marking the launch of our brand-new cookery school!

Guided by Olivier, a Parisian trained pastry chef no less, attendees at the first masterclass learnt how to make the most delicately delicious macarons by hand and received a box of the dainty treats to take home after the session and share with loved ones.

The attendees left confident that they could whip up macarons in a variety of flavours fit for any occasion and we know first-hand that these sweet treats will be devoured within seconds!

Designed for all skill levels; from those with limited experience to kitchen fanatics, we have a range of both demonstration and masterclass experiences where you can learn how to master baking and classic French pâtisserie.

If you’d like to expand your pâtisserie skills or develop some new ones at one of our practical masterclasses, click here to take a look at our classes.
