It’s been a fabulous February for us here at Kitchen by Liquid, as we’ve welcomed new faces into the kitchen and seen Olivier cook up some tasty treats.
We’ve had trainee chefs in for masterclasses, a celebration of women in business and a photoshoot for a national food chain – read on to find out more!
Springboard apprentices
On 9th February, seven trainees from Springboard visited the kitchen for a cooking masterclass with Olivier.
Springboard is a charity which supports the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry and those seeking employment within it – working to advance the life and education of those under the age of 25 through the provision of advice, training and skills courses. The trainees who attended the masterclass are all keen to enter into a career in the hospitality industry and Olivier showed them how this can be a possibility.
As they arrived, the trainees were welcomed with a pizza lunch, handmade by Olivier of course, which was then followed by demonstrations on how to cook chicken and all the different types of meals you can make with it.
The trainees then returned for a second session on 22nd February, where Olivier delivered a patisserie masterclass. He gave them a step-by-step guide on how to make fruit tarts and walnut financiers – providing them with skills which they can hopefully use in their own careers one day.
Women in business
On 14th February our CEO, Lis, welcomed colleagues from a women in business network into the kitchen for a meeting and some wonderful food from Olivier. To provide brain food for their presentations, Olivier treated them to a delicious chicken salad with maple vinaigrette dressing – a true Valentine’s treat!
Food shoot for Team ITG
On 20th, 21st and 22nd February local marketing agency, Team ITG, set up home in the kitchen for three days as they shot new food content for their client, Hungry Horse – a chain of pub restaurants with 284 locations across the UK.
Although the recipes they were whipping up and photographing are top secret for now, we still enjoyed the delicious smells wafting through from the kitchen and we look forward to seeing the images on our visits to Hungry Horse restaurants soon!
Our brand-new Urban Cultivator
February also saw the long-awaited installation of our new, impressive piece of kitchen tech – our Urban Cultivator. The Urban Cultivator is an indoor kitchen garden which allows us to grow fresh herbs, microgreens, vegetables and flowers in our very own kitchen.
On 14th February, the team from Intelligent Appliances took a trip to Kitchen by Liquid HQ and showed us the ropes on how to install the Urban Cultivator, as well as how to plant the seeds, care for them and harvest them.
We’re already seeing some exciting results and you can read more about the technology and our plans for recipe development here.
