This May, the Kitchen not only welcomed in spring but also prepared for summer. Our amazing creative team and in-house development chef Olivier Briault, cooked up some fresh ideas and creative collaborations.

From capturing the essence of summer cooking with the North Carolina Sweetpotato Commission to making a splash at Christchurch Food Festival with a maple-laced take on the viral Dubai chocolate trend, our team was firing on all cylinders. We also leaned into the matcha moment with a frothy, flavour-packed drink for Maple from Canada Australia, and welcomed the next generation of pastry talent for a hands-on HIT session.

Whether developing trend-led recipes, leading live demos, or inspiring new minds, May proved that Kitchen by Liquid is as dynamic as ever. Where innovation, flavour and fun always take centre stage.

Maple Moments at Christchurch Food Festival

We made a delicious splash over the May Bank Holiday at the bustling Christchurch Food Festival, turning heads (and tempting tastebuds) under the unmistakable Maple from Canada banner. Our in-house development chef Olivier Briault teamed up with chef consultant James Golding for a live cooking demo that drew quite the crowd.

Together, they artfully displayed the versatility of Maple from Canada’s delicious products, adding a decadent twist on the viral Dubai chocolate trend with a delicious Dubai Chocolate Brownie recipe. This indulgent spin brought together the intense, fudgy allure of the internet’s latest chocolate obsession with the deep sweetness of maple. The result was a crowd-pleasing dessert that proved innovation (and a good drizzle of maple syrup) never goes amiss.

The festival was the perfect stage to showcase the best of Canadian maple syrup and bring a digital food trend to life, one brownie square at a time.

Behind the Scenes: A Sweet(potato) Summer in the Studio

In May, the kitchen heated up once again, this time with a summer state of mind. Working alongside the North Carolina Sweetpotato Commission (NCSC), we captured a vibrant selection of warm-weather recipes that celebrate fresh ingredients, simple styling, and relaxed, al fresco dining.

At the heart of it all the North Carolina sweetpotatoes were golden, gorgeous, and absolutely stealing the spotlight in every frame. From the trending same-day focaccia to flavour-packed taco-stuffed sweetpotatoes, each recipe was designed to inspire home cooks with easy, seasonal ideas they can enjoy all summer long.

Other highlights of the shoot included a savoury breakfast bowl and Korean Bimimbap. These globally inspires dishes reflect the growing demand for fresh, wholesome meals that are as visually appealing as they are delicious

As always, the Kitchen by Liquid team led recipe development, styling and content creation, to ensure this shoot delivered on both creativity and consumer trends.

Styled   simply, shot beautifully, this shoot was all about capturing the essence of summer dining: relaxed, fresh, and irresistibly sweetpotato-forward.

Stay tuned your summer menu inspiration is just getting started.

Matcha Coffee Maple Madness

Kitchen by Liquid got things frothy fast during a reactive social shoot for Maple from Canada Australia. We hopped on the matcha trend as Olivier and the social team brewed up something that’s as alliterative as it is innovative, the Matcha Maple Coffee.

With 1.9 million posts under #matchalatte on Instagram, it’s clear this nutrition-packed ingredient is having a serious moment. Our take blends matcha, milo, maple, and milk – balancing the earthy depth of green tea with the sweetness of rich Canadian maple syrup.

The result? A creamy, energising drink that’s equal parts indulgent and innovative—a true match(a) made in heaven. At Liquid we know that when it comes to beverages, a little creativity and a lot of maple goes a long way. Sip it, shoot it, share it.

Inspiring new minds with HIT Training

Kitchen by Liquid was alive with energy, precision, and plenty of chocolate as we welcomed Hospitalitity Industry Training (HIT) for a hands-on patisserie training session. Eight Level 2 and 3 students joined us for a full day of practical learning, focused on refining their skills in intricate chocolate and sugar work.

From delicate bonbons to detailed showpieces, the students demonstrated impressive technique and creativity – turning the kitchen into a patisserie studio for the day. Guided by expert trainers, they explored the artistry behind tempering, moulding, and finishing, gaining confidence in both traditional methods and modern presentation.

This collaboration with HIT highlights the importance of real-world experience in culinary education, and we’re proud to provide a space where emerging talent can develop and shine.

You can see more of their stunning creations over on the HIT Instagram—trust us, you’ll want to!
